Picking a Cabin Name

After buying our place, we noticed that other people named their camps. We thought it was fun and started thinking of names of our own. Some people used their last names for their cabins and some used how their built theirs (i.e. a neighbor built his cabin with the money he made on “Wall $treet”)

For us, we wanted something more general so we made a list and started crossing off names after sleeping on it:

  1. Sweet Retreat
  2. Tree Bluff
  3. Shady Chalet
  4. Good Life
  5. Last Nickel Cabin – maybe a bit depressing…?
  6. Heavenly Pines
  7. Laughing Mountain
  8. Living the Dream – I know cliché
  9. Happy Camp
  10. Happy Hideaway
  11. Wood Haven
  12. Rustic Refuge
  13. Serendipity

I honestly suggest searching the internet as there are some many ways to make a name for your place that it can be overwhelming and frustrating at the same time for originality. Good Luck!

And let me know which names you like the best! 🙂

  2. Ok …rustic refuge, it seems… though i did like heavenly pines. We have an abundance of huckleberry bushes on our homestead… hence, we are Huckleberry Haven… good luck with your endeavours.

Hi Bruce, thanks for checking out the blog thoughts. We ended up deciding on Good Life as we feel like we are “livin’ the good life” when we are out in the woods and back in nature.

And Vancouver Island is beautiful, I used to live on the mainland in Vancouver (Kits area). I love Canada.

      1. When I started out here at 20 years of age back in 78′ I had just read the book by Helen and Scott Nearing called “Living the Good Life.” A real inspiration it was and a great name you have chosen. Neat your have lived in the Vancouver area. All the best.
